Farming is fine for cheap stuff like 15K armor but for big stuff consider trading.

suh-WEET. a deathnote fan. and farming, for the most part, is tough for me as i dont play warriors much. most ranger and sin farming builds and spots have been nerfed. and as for your last comment, im a minipet junkie, so thats where most of my money goes. ive wanted a mini kuunavang since i started playing, but i have a long way to go till i can get it. thanks for the tips though

If you've got a ranger or a sin, try running. Get a good chunk of the map of whichever camp you play down and then just know the hot spots. It's what I do with my ranger. It's not insanely good money, but hey money is money, right?

Ah, yes, minipets. I dropped 20k just yesterday on an elf; I didn't have that one and the price seemed reasonable. Not that I needed another mini taking up a slot, especially considering I have 2 2nd b'day and 4 1st b'day presents sitting unopened; would be just my luck that one contains an elf. lol

As the others have pointed out, the best way to save money is to not spend it. Or to not spend it foolishly, at least. But where's the fun in that?

I've been amazed that money seems to keep adding up just from playing the game. A lot. The playing, I mean, not the money - the money will follow.

Rangers are certainly good for farming, at least mine was though I haven't been playing mine too much lately. If you have Factions, the Kurz and Lux areas are good places because of the merchants at the res shrines (the +3H regen priest blessing helps too). I tend not to pick up white drops because of limited space in my inventory but they fetch ~50g each so, if you have the room, pick them up - you can make several trips to the shrine merchs to clear your inventory if need be.

It seems to go slow but it actually will add up pretty quickly.

The thing that really helps me, though, is to concentrate on having fun, rather than on making money - when you're constantly looking at your gold counter, it seems to increase at a snail's pace, whereas when you ignore it, you'll be amazed at how fast it's advanced when you weren't looking.

I have no idea why people ask questions like that.

Guns and Free have both made good points. Farming echovald sounds good, but my ranger is only at kaineng right now. my sin is my main canthan character, so maybe ill farm there once i get there. (she is currently at tahnnakai temple, so i should be in echovald soon. thanks for the tips, everybody!

if you have nightfall you can get a few 'free' treasures in certain spots in the game (I have lots of characters so when I need the cash for say a new piece of armor that character needs to hit the treasures in nightfall---they usually reset every 30 days or so, so you are usually guaranteed a few plat every trip and either an item or gem with that. http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Treasure the link for the spots)

Go to Tyria and do like ToA/Cay runs. It's like an easy 1.5k or 2k per person.

Since the start of the game I've used ectos as a sort of savings account. Nowadays - especially with the relatively low price - it is easy to buy a ecto and tuck it away in material storage when you get a little ahead.

I know it sounds dull. But if you do that (and you could buy gems or shards instead) and leave your savings untouched, it mounts up. I'm not talking about doing this as an investment - any increase in prices of the stored ectos, shards or gems is just a bonus - instead it's more the 'out of sight, out of mind' theory.

So it's not a get rich overnight theory. But it has a lof of merit. For one thing it doesn't depend on your ability to trade, or farm.

All of us have a lucky find at times and make a little extra, or we run the free treasure chests and get some gold and maybe a weapon to sell ... these are the kind of small income pluses that can send up stored away.

I know by the way that this is a boring way to get rich. But I also know that it works slowly but surely.

I would sugest repeating a few missions. Some missions will drop 1-3K worth of gold/items in about 30min, on hard mode that is.

In the end its all about time and saving every single gold peice you find.

I made 520k by clearing FoW on hard mode with heroes and heroes, sure it was a lucky drop but at the end i had 8 lockpicks 6 shards and countless golds, reckon that it took me 4 hours to do and its hard and boring.

If you clear FoW on normal, you should get a solid 20k per run or more.

just the other day i tried that R/Me FoW Forest farmer build, and got my ass handed to me by the abyssals near the beginning. once i finish Cantha on my sin, i plan to get my warrior to 20 and try UW hero/hench runs, since most people who are rich do most (if not all) of their farming on their warriors. and L, what profession were you playing at the time that you managed to hero/hench FoW HM? (side note, 3 Deathnote fans in one thread! but Raito>L y'know)

And as for NF chest farming, ill be getting the NF collectors edition for Christmas, (i do not have nightfall yet), so when i do ill try doing a chest run now and then to pick up some extra cash. MINI VARESH FTW

again, thanks to everyone who has posted here, your tips have helped me choose where and what character i farm. probably Echovald (farming Chkkr, if that is still worth the trip) and maybe FoW normal mode if i ever have the time.

Another thing that I do is set benchmark values.

For instance; right now I'm saving up for a set of Vabbian armor, and I have 275k in the bank. I don't touch that money. Instead, whatever money I make over 275k goes to my Dervish, then when I have 3k built up in my Dervishes personal inventory, I go buy a saphire, or 6k for a ruby, or 5k for the actual piece.

In your case you could benckmark it at 2.5k, then spend any amount above that. Then, when you're not feeling like you have to spend money on an item, move the benchmark up to 5k, then 7.5k, 10k, 15k and so on. Takes a little while, but I have found it to be an effective way of storing up money, at least for me. The only problem is that you never feel like you can spend any of the money in your bank account.

There are tons of ways to make money without farming. Although it can be mroe difficult it isn't impossible. Do quests, sell items that you have.

yeah, ive been saving up for a few things, a set of elite kurzick armor for my assassin, a set of Monument armor (ebon vanguard armor) for my Ranger, and a mini Kuunavang. i think that by the time i get my ranks up (im at rank 2 of Ebon Vanguard on my ranger, and not even at rank 1 of Kurzicks, i dont AB much) i should have about enough money to buy at least one of the sets. that "Benchmark" idea sounds like it has merit, ive sort of been trying something like that, every time i get more than 5k, i put all but 1k of it into my storage, and dont touch my storage stash. thanks again everyone!

if you are really desperate and have Prophicies AND Nightfall, you can make a D/Mo Droks runner. If you have all 3 campaigns, you can make a D/A Droks runner. That makes 3k easily per person. 1 run takes about 30 minutes. You can run 1-5 people. So per 30 minutes, you get 3-15k. Each hour = 30k. If you play a total of 6 hours a day (meaning, take breaks), you will make a total of 180k. That is 2 sets of 15k armor and then some.
